Batch processing

When a batch is the right tool — cells, limits, and what it cannot do.

A batch produces many outputs in one pass. In the sidebar it is called „Batches“.

The signed-in product speaks German, so its labels are quoted in German throughout, with the English rendering in italics.

Cells are a cross product

For every combination of one selected asset and one selected format, exactly one output is produced — a "cell". Five images times three formats is fifteen cells.

The limit applies to the cells:

RoleCells per batch
Owner, admin100
Member25

Every member may create batches; the role only decides the quantity.

In the „Formate“ step the multiplication is shown live: „N × M = K von 100 Zellen“. While the number is above the limit, „Weiter“ (Next) stays disabled.

Since a batch has at least one format, the cell limit is also the ceiling for the asset selection. „Alle N auf dieser Seite auswählen“ (select all N on this page) therefore adds only as many as still fit, and says how many it held back.

A batch processes images

PNG and JPEG. The asset picker does not show videos; the note above the grid says so: „Batches verarbeiten Bilder (PNG und JPEG) — Videos werden hier nicht angezeigt. Videos kennzeichnen Sie einzeln im Editor.“ (Batches process images (PNG and JPEG) — videos are not shown here. Label videos individually in the editor.)

If you start from the library multi-selection, videos are filtered out as the selection is handed over. If the selection is videos only, the wizard does not open.

All or nothing

A single unsuitable asset makes the whole batch fail before anything is produced. Unsuitable means: not verified, original removed by the retention period, or a format that cannot be edited.

In the asset grid such assets are unselectable and say why — „Aufbewahrungsfrist abgelaufen“ (retention period expired), „noch nicht verifiziert“ (not verified yet), „Nur PNG/JPEG können in Batches verarbeitet werden“ (only PNG/JPEG can be processed in batches).

What a batch cannot do

No manual crop. There are two modes: „Auto · Mitte“ and „Auto · Motiv“. You draw a frame by hand per output in the contact sheet.

No freeform format. The only non-catalogue format a batch accepts is „Original · nur Label“ (original · label only) — native pixel size per asset — and even that only where the label is switched on.

No per-cell label switch. Switching it on or off applies to the whole batch.

How a batch comes about

Two routes lead in:

  • „Neuer Batch“ (New batch) in the batch overview.
  • The library multi-selection — its selection bar carries „Batch erstellen“ (Create batch) as the first action.

The wizard has five steps: assets, formats, crop & label, review, start. On start, the name, assets, formats, crop, label and the exceptions are recorded as a snapshot.

Starting batches in quick succession briefly slows you down — the start button then counts the seconds down.

On these pages

  • The wizard — the five steps and what blocks at each.
  • The contact sheet — analysing, setting exceptions, excluding cells.
  • Results — the way back to a batch that outlived its tab, and the ZIP export.
