Looking up a message

Every heading on this page is the wording of a message exactly as it stands in the product — so that the sentence in front of you on the screen is the thing you can find here.

The signed-in product speaks German, so the messages below are quoted in German, with the English rendering in italics underneath.

Listed here are the messages from signing in, invitations, verification and upload. Each one carries two things: what it means, and what to do.

„Die Einladung gehört zu einer anderen E-Mail-Adresse als dem angemeldeten Konto“

The invitation belongs to a different e-mail address than the account you are signed in with.

The sentence appears when you redeem an invitation while signed in under an address other than the one the invitation names. The invitation is therefore neither used up nor broken — it is addressed to somebody else. The invitation page names both addresses side by side beforehand.

Beneath it stands the way out: „Abmelden und Einladung öffnen“ (Sign out and open the invitation). The button signs you out and takes you to the sign-in page; sign in and you are back at the same invitation. The seven states of the invitation page are under Accepting an invitation.

„Der Link ist ungültig oder abgelaufen“

The link is not valid or has expired.

The reset link is good once and only for a short while. The message means one of two things: the link is too old, or it has already been redeemed.

„Dieser Arbeitsbereich hat derzeit keinen freien Sitzplatz“

This workspace currently has no free seat.

The sentence appears when redeeming an invitation, in a card headed „KONTINGENT AUSGESCHÖPFT“ (Quota exhausted). A seat is taken on redemption, not on sending: with one free seat two invitations can be created, and the second person runs into this refusal. The card shows no figures.

There is nothing you can do yourself, and the card says so: „Die Person, die die Einladung verschickt hat, kann das ändern.“ (The person who sent the invitation can change that.) Waiting does not help — no seat comes free on its own. Go back to whoever invited you.

„Dateityp … wird nicht unterstützt (PNG, JPEG, MP4, MOV)“

File type … is not supported (PNG, JPEG, MP4, MOV).

In place of the three dots stands the file type your browser reported — or the word „unbekannt“ (unknown) where neither the browser nor the file extension says what it is. In the brackets stands the list that applies on the route you are on, and the two routes have different lists: uploading into the library (in the sidebar „Library“) takes PNG, JPEG, MP4 and MOV, whereas the quick check takes PNG, JPEG, WebP, TIFF, AVIF, HEIC, GIF, MP4 and MOV.

A file the upload refuses and the quick check accepts still reaches the library through „In Library speichern“ (Save to library) — as a verification-only asset, without an editor. Everything else has to be converted first. Where the browser reports no file type at all, the file extension decides; more on that under Requirements.

„ProRes wird nicht unterstützt. Bitte das Video als H.264 oder H.265 exportieren.“

ProRes is not supported. Please export the video as H.264 or H.265.

The .mov extension is allowed, but it says nothing about the video format inside. verstag checks the format as the file is picked and refuses ProRes right there.

What to do stands in the message: export the video again as H.264 or H.265 — practically every editing suite can do both. After that it is an ordinary MP4 or MOV file.

„Die Prüfung der Content Credentials läuft …“

The Content Credentials check is running …

The amber bar above the editor reads, in full:

Die Prüfung der Content Credentials läuft … der Editor entsperrt automatisch, sobald sie abgeschlossen ist.

The Content Credentials check is running … the editor unlocks automatically as soon as it has finished.

The editor releases once the check is through; without a completed check no output can be saved.

There is nothing to do. The status updates itself, and the check runs to completion even if you close the tab. If it says „Die Prüfung ist fehlgeschlagen. Prüfe das Asset erneut, bevor du Ausgaben definierst.“ (The check failed. Verify the asset again before defining outputs.) instead, checking again is the right move. The states and their wordings are under Reading a result.

„Die Prüfung hat einen Status gemeldet, den diese Version nicht kennt“

The check reported a status this version does not recognise.

The sentence stands in the box „Vertrauensprüfung“ (Trust check) above the result, at the severity „Manuelle Prüfung“ (Manual check), and reads in full:

Die Prüfung hat einen Status gemeldet, den diese Version nicht kennt. Der Rohwert steht unter „Technische Details“.

The check reported a status this version does not recognise. The raw value is under “Technical details”.

The message says nothing about the file. It says that this build of verstag cannot place the reported status.

The raw value is under „Technische Details“, verbatim and complete. It is the thing you can quote — to us, or to whoever the file came from. What the severity „Manuelle Prüfung“ stands for is explained in The six notice severities.

„Die Eingabe wurde nicht akzeptiert. Bitte prüfen und es erneut versuchen.“

The input was not accepted. Please check it and try again.

This is the general answer to a rejected input. It does not name the reason. A refusal that has a sentence of its own shows that sentence; where none is written, this one stands instead.

The most tangible case in the quick check is a file over 100 MB. On that route the same limit applies to every kind of file — including videos, which may be larger when uploaded into the library. More on that under Checking a file quickly.
