Output formats
The workspace's format catalogue — creating, deactivating, hiding, deleting, and what happens to existing outputs.
The format catalogue lives under Settings → „Formate“ (Formats). It decides which target formats the editor and the batch wizard offer.
Owners and admins only. A member does not see the „Einstellungen“ (Settings) menu entry at all; anyone opening the address directly gets a 404 page.
The page has two cards: „Neues Format“ (New format) with the form on top, „Formate“ with the list below.
The signed-in product speaks German, so its labels and messages are quoted in German throughout, with the English rendering in italics.
Creating a format
Four fields: „Name“, „Breite (px)“ (Width), „Höhe (px)“ (Height) and optionally „Auflösung (dpi)“ (Resolution). You do not enter the aspect ratio — it is reduced from width and height and shown beside the fields. While one is missing it reads „–:–“.
- Width and height are whole numbers from 1 to 20000.
- The name is unique per workspace, regardless of case: „Hero Wide“ and „hero wide“ exclude each other. At most 120 characters; the field does not cap your typing, the refusal comes on save.
- The number fields are strict. „1e3“ or „1,9“ are not reinterpreted as 1000 or 1 — the button simply stays inactive.
Resolution, and what an empty field means
An empty dpi field is an answer, not a gap. It means "screen format". The field's placeholder puts it the other way round: „für Druck“ (for print).
What the field is for: 2480 × 3508 is only A4 if the file states 300 dpi. A value you set lands in the output file itself — in the EXIF field for JPEG, in the resolution block for PNG.
Three things hang off it:
- Without a dpi the output file carries 72 — the screen convention, not a statement about physical size.
- The source file's resolution does not survive scaling. It is overwritten on every output scaled to a format.
- The exception is „Original“. No resolution is stamped there at all: the pixel count is unchanged, so the source's own statement stays true.
Resolution is allowed between 1 and 1200 dpi. In the catalogue list it appears only for formats that have one.
Presets and your own formats
The catalogue holds two kinds, distinguishable by the type column:

The buttons differ between the two:

A preset applies to every workspace. Hiding takes it out of your picker only — elsewhere it stays visible unchanged. Conversely, your own format cannot be hidden; deactivating is the way there.
When hiding a preset the button says „Ausblenden“ and the message afterwards reads „Format „Web Hero" deaktiviert.“ (Format „Web Hero" deactivated.)
What deactivating and hiding do not do
Both act on the picker lists only. Existing outputs stay untouched: their dimensions sit in the saved output itself.
That is the answer to "my format has disappeared": it has gone from the picker, not from the files.
One side effect: in the editor's derivative list, a finished output loses its format name once that format is deactivated and shows „Freiform“ plus the stored dimensions instead. File, row and specification are unchanged — only the caption.
The batch wizard reads the same filtered list. A batch requesting a format deactivated in the meantime is refused. If the catalogue is empty altogether it reads „Keine Formate im Katalog.“ (No formats in the catalogue.)
Deleting
Deleting works only while no derivative uses the format. The message names the format:
Format „Newsletter-Header" wird von Derivaten verwendet und kann nicht gelöscht werden — stattdessen deaktivieren.
Format „Newsletter-Header" is used by derivatives and cannot be deleted — deactivate it instead.
The button takes two steps: the first click arms it, it reads „Wirklich löschen?“ (Really delete?) for four seconds, and only the second click deletes. After that it disarms itself.
What is not in the catalogue
Beside the catalogue formats the editor shows two tiles that are not formats: „Freiform“ and „Original“. They cannot be hidden, because they have no catalogue row.
For video the catalogue is irrelevant. The video editor shows no format picker; a video derivative carries no format.
And no format can be created in the editor. The catalogue applies to the whole workspace; owners and admins may change it.
The record
Each of the six catalogue actions is written to the audit trail. On creation the dpi is recorded with it. The interface says „Preset“, the trail says „System-Format“.
What can go wrong
„Die Eingabe wurde nicht akzeptiert. Bitte prüfen und es erneut versuchen.“ (The input was not accepted. Please check and try again.) The general sentence on a refusal — it also appears for a name that already exists.
„Dafür fehlt die Berechtigung.“ (You do not have permission for that.) Your role may not change the catalogue.
