Switching and cancelling
Plan changes, the term and cancellation — and when each of them takes effect.
All of it lives on the billing page: the plan cards at the top, the facts line and the cancellation below.
Only the owner may change anything. An admin sees the cards, the term and the cancellation state, but gets none of the buttons.
The signed-in product speaks German, so its labels are quoted in German throughout, with the English rendering in italics.
Up takes effect at once, down at the end of the period
A change to a larger plan takes effect immediately and is billed pro rata.
A change to a smaller one is scheduled and executed at the end of the current billing period. Until then it can be withdrawn at any time — the page shows it as a sentence with a date and a „Zurücknehmen“ (Withdraw) button.
For seats that means:
- Upwards: the count is raised at most, never lowered.
- Downwards: recomputed on the day — occupied seats or the target plan's included count, whichever is larger.
A scheduled change is executed on the date named. The dates on the page are earliest dates — hours can pass between the date and the execution.
The term is a discount, not a payment schedule
A minimum term lowers the seat price. Billing stays monthly, and storage and video consumption are untouched by it.
The discount applies from the next invoice, not retroactively within the current month.
A term can be added later. On an upgrade it can be booked in the same step — on a downgrade it cannot.
It renews automatically for the same duration, and the discount carries over.
Two rules while it runs:
- Downgrading is not possible. The cards of smaller plans are not offered at all.
- Upgrading takes the term along. The end date stays. If the target plan does not offer the running term, the change is refused with a pointer to support.
„Laufzeit nicht verlängern“ is not a cancellation
The switch ends only the renewal. The subscription continues and runs on monthly at the regular price from the end of the term — and is then cancellable monthly.
It changes nothing within the current month. The discount falls away only at the end of the term.
And it is reversible: renewal can be switched back on until the term ends.
A twelve-month term does not mean twelve months without cancelling
You can cancel at any time. What the term determines is the date on which the cancellation takes effect:
- Without a term: at the end of the current billing period.
- With a term: at the end of the term. „Deine Mindestlaufzeit endet am {Datum}. Zu diesem Termin endet das Abonnement.“ (Your minimum term ends on {date}. The subscription ends on that date.)
Until then everything continues unchanged: „Gekündigt zum {Datum}. Bis dahin läuft alles unverändert weiter.“
The dialog states beforehand what comes after: „Danach gilt wieder der kostenlose Tarif. Prüfe vorher deine Aufbewahrungseinstellungen.“ (The free plan applies again afterwards. Check your retention settings first.)
Withdrawing a cancellation
Possible at any time before the date. With a term the page says what that means: „Wird die Kündigung zurückgenommen, verlängert sich die Laufzeit am {Datum} wieder.“
The spending limit is switched on again afterwards.
